bee's knees

A Bees Knees (or Bee's Knees) is a Prohibition Era cocktail made with gin, fresh lemon juice, and honey. It is served shaken and chilled, often with a lemon twist. The name comes from prohibition-era slang meaning 'the best.'

Ingredients

  • 5.25 cl gin
  • 2.25 cl lemon juice
  • 2.25 cl orange juice
  • 2 tsp honey syrup

Garnish: lemon or orange zest

Recipe

  1. stir honey syrup with lemon and orange juices until it dissolves.

  2. add gin and shake with ice.

  3. strain into chilled cocktail glass.
